Random Testing
|
A properly managed random
testing program is one of the strongest components of a company’s comprehensive
substance abuse prevention plan. At EDPM we manage the random testing programs
of more than 700 clients from diverse industries. Clients choose to conduct
random testing to meet a variety of regulatory, safety, and fiscal needs. |

How it Works
Customer Support |
Some clients are required by
the Department of Transportation (DOT) to place safety-
sensitive employees such
as truck drivers and school bus drivers into a random
program.
Others clients conduct
random testing in order to receive discounts from their states
Workers' Compensation
insurance premiums.
Many clients simply value the "deterrence" effect that a well-managed random
testing
program can have on drug abuse in the workplace.
All clients benefit when
a random testing program helps to reduce the costs of lost
productivity, property
damage, and property theft.
HOW IT WORKS
Before starting a random
program, a substance abuse policy should be developed and
distributed to all employees.
EDPM can develop a policy for you or review your existing
policy. We can also help
you to determine how many employees to test over the
course of a year (meeting DOT
minimum standards where applicable) and whether to
test on a monthly or quarterly
basis.
Before each random selection is
performed, EDPM will verify the number of tests that
have been completed so far
against the goal set for the year. We will increase or
decrease the number of employees
to be selected accordingly. Our random sample
generator is computer-driven and
has a built-in tracking system to ensure the integrity of
the random selections.
EDPM will forward each random selection to the
Designated Employer Representative
(DER) of your company. Your DER will then
begin to require the selected employees to
report for testing to the company’s
designated collection site(s).
EDPM
offers the option of on-site testing at your company location(s), thus reducing
the
amount of time your employees are away from their work.
