Policy Development
EDPM's extensive knowledge of the regulations governing drug and alcohol testing
provides an excellent resource for companies developing drug and alcohol testing
policies and procedures.
EDPM professionals assist our clients in formulating policy
that accurately reflects the company's philosophy and goals while complying with
federal, state and local regulations.
Current Law Monitoring and Consultation
Laws pertaining to workplace drug and alcohol testing in the United States are
in
constant transition. Changes come from all levels of the courts as well as federal, state
and local regulations. EDPM monitors these changes through its affiliation with
industry-specific, professional organizations.
We can provide
guidance relating to drug
and alcohol testing laws and regulations.
Supervisory and Employee Educational Programs
EDPM's professional education and training sessions enable clients to:
• Fulfill mandated training requirements for regulatory compliance (e.g. DOT),
Workers' Comp discount programs, etc.
• Educate supervisors and employee on how to
identify and handle potential
drug use in the workplace
• Utilize multiple training formats, including
CD, DVD, video or on-site training to
conduct effective minimizing business
disruptions
Quality Assurance Program
EDPM's internal Quality Assurance Program enables us to monitor and proactively
strengthen all facets of our testing services management program, from our
occupational health site network to the MRO review process. For instance,
our
Occupational Health Site Audit Program includes "secret patient" visits by EDPM
staff
to
collection sites to ensure that the facility is adhering to correct protocol in
testing.
We
regularly monitor specific metrics so that we can identify "red flags" before
actual
problems even surface:
• Turnaround time
for testing results (by lab, collection site and type of result)
• Turnaround time for MRO verification of drug
screen results
• Records retention and reporting compliance by
designated collection facilities
• Procedural accuracy in testing by collection
facilities
Reporting/Communications Process
Rapid and accurate turnaround time of drug screen results is of the utmost
importance,
and is therefore, a high priority for the staff at EDPM. Our
technical resources include
a sophisticated data management system, which
ensures both speed and accuracy in
test evaluation reports. We typically provide
negative test results within 24-hours of
receipt of the specimen by the
certified laboratory. EDPM provides result reporting to
multiple locations or
regions and to multiple contact persons when necessary. Tests
results may be
transmitted via web-based reporting, email, and fax.
Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Counseling
By utilizing our nationwide Substance Abuse Professional counseling service,
employees who have tested positive receive evaluations to establish the
existence or
level of addiction following a positive drug or alcohol test. The
counseling is conducted
by a Substance Abuse Professional who is defined by
federal regulations as a licensed
physician or a certified psychologist, social
worker, employee assistance professional
or addiction counselor with knowledge
of and clinical experience in the diagnosis and
treatment of alcohol and
controlled substance disorders. Upon completion of the
assessment, a written
report is forwarded to the company.
Random Test Scheduling
EDPM utilizes a random sample scheduling module to automatically select and
schedule
client personnel for random drug and alcohol tests. EDPM complements its
validated random generator with statistical management tools to ensure the
integrity of
the random process. EDPM automatically tracks how many drug tests
are completed,
the rate of absenteeism, canceled tests, etc., and continually
adjusts its scheduling to
ensure that the desired annual sampling rate is
achieved. The net result is a program
that does just the right amount of
testing, which saves time and money, in addition to
satisfying labor relations concerns.
Statistical Analysis
EDPM provides its clients with statistical analyses of their drug testing programs.
The
reports are flexible and can be generated by month, quarter or year. EDPM
can also
provide Management Information Reports required by the U.S. Department
of
Transportation (DOT). This enables companies to track positive testing
rates by
location as well as determine the abused drug of choice, thereby
allowing companies to
structure programs to combat specific problems.
Driver
Qualification File Maintenance
In order to supply our clients with a complete suite of services to ensure
regulatory
compliance, EDPM partners with FirstLab, one of the
leading service agents in the
nation, to offer total maintenance of Driver
Qualification Files (DQFs), as required by the
Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration (FMCSA).

can save you money
by reducing employee down time, travel cost and lost productivity
resulting from
employee travel to and from a collection facility.
Nationwide Collection Site Locator
EDPM has access to more than 12,000 sites throughout the United States
which may
serve our clients as alcohol and urine drug screen
collectors. For pre-employment hiring
or post-accident testing, EDPM locates a site in virtually
any location throughout the
country. This service is available 24-hours a day, seven
days a week.
Expert Witness Services
Expert witness services, including either M.D. (MRO) or Ph.D. (Toxicologist), are
provided by EDPM and/or the laboratory, for either administrative and/or legal hearings
at the request of the client company.
